One of the Councils top priorities is to secure the provision of an adequate supply of affordable housing across the district. Read on to discover what it is, who can access it and where it is.
What is Affordable Housing?
Affordable Housing is housing which is provided and retained for the life of the property where this can be achieved at a discounted rate for people in local housing need who cannot afford to rent or buy property generally available on the open market. Such housing will include social housing for rent, discounted private sector rented housing, low cost ownership schemes through shared equity and market housing for discounted sale.

Homeseekers Register
The Council has set up the Homeseekers Register to help people who are looking for affordable housing but who don’t want to rent from the Council or a Registered Social Landlord (also known as Housing Associations).
The Council will use the registration scheme to put forward the names of potential applicants to developers who are building new affordable homes for sale or to rent privately.
