
Located in Alnwick, in the heart of Northumberland, we cover an area of 419 square miles, with almost twenty miles of Heritage coastline, serving a population of 31,500. Rothbury and Amble are the other towns in the District.
Building Control operates from the District Council's main office at Allerburn House on the outskirts of Alnwick and it is part of the Environment and Regeneration Department.

Staffed by suitably qualified Building Control Officers and backed by a fully integrated computer system, to ensure maximum efficiency and minimum delay when making an application for approval.
Inspections are carried out within the statutory time limits, with most inspections carried out the same day if the office is notified before 10.00am. Our Area Building Control Surveyors can be contacted by mobile phone if necessary.
All of the Area Building Control Surveyors have extensive knowledge of ground conditions throughout the District and they are familiar with the many and varied forms of construction which exist.
The Council are members of LANTAC, the National Type Approval Scheme and partnership arrangements are in place for LABC New Home Warranty (MD Insurance Services Ltd) and LABC Latent Gold Commercial Building Defects Guarantee (Oval Insurance Services Ltd).
Consultations at the design stage of a project are encouraged and meetings with all interested parties can be arranged. The Service works closely with Development Control and together we are committed to the Development Team Approach.
The Service is also responsible for street naming and access for the disabled issues which can be found on the right-hand link menu.
