They will tell you what your rights are and how to appeal, if you are eligible.

You can also appeal if you think you should not have to pay Council Tax at all, for example because you do not live in or own the property or because it is exempt, or if you think we have made a mistake in working out your bill. If you want to appeal you must write to the Council Tax Section first so that we can look at the case again.

Making appeal does not mean you will be entitled to a refund of any overpaid tax.
